Hundreds of former staff, supporters and friends came to Washington July 13-14 to honor George McGovern and celebrate the 35th anniversary of his nomination for President. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi headlined the campaign reunion reception in the Cannon Caucus Room Friday evening. Bob Woodward, Carl Bernstein, David Broder, and Gary Hart were lead speakers at a birthday celebration the next day. It followed a morning symposium on the McGovern legacy on nutrition and fighting world hunger. McGovern addressed the crowds at all three events. More than $100,000 has been raised for the McGovern Legacy Fund.

Welcome to the online home for the veterans of the 1972 McGovern for President campaign, as well as those who served in George McGovern's Senate office and Senate campaigns - McGovern72.org. The 1972 McGovern for President Campaign was a unique political and sociological event. It was based on grassroots opposition to the war in Vietnam, support for full civil rights for all Americans, and related concerns.
We are creating a web based community where people can share recollections, re-connect with old friends, and make new acquaintances, while celebrating the career and values of a great American public servant, George McGovern. Please take a moment to register on this web site so that you can take full advantage of all this site has to offer. We look forward to your contributions and conversation here at McGovern72.org.
